Road Trip | Wilsons Promontory VIC
It's been a while since I've had the chance to go exploring (joys of the 7 day work week), so when the opportunity to visit Melbourne came up, of course I said yes. As always, it wouldn't be a proper holiday without at least some time spent in a national park of sorts, so naturally, I had to add Wilsons Prom to the itinerary...
We left Sydney at 7am in the morning, and 12 hours later... we arrived at Franklin River, VIC. It seemed like the best spot to stay overnight and get some rest before we continued to the Prom. It was a great stopover area with plenty of parking, grass and amenities - would definitely recommend if you're looking for a decent spot to car camp for the night.
All up, I think we spent about 15 hours on the road from Sydney to the Prom. It was absolutely worth it in the end though! The landscape is stunning and so different from anything we have in NSW. Let's just say I'd be here all the time if I lived in Melbourne...
Unfortunately we didn't have enough time (or energy) to complete the 32 km return hike to South Point ... someday I'll be back to tick that one off the bucket list! Instead, we decided to enjoy one of the many short walks available in the area.
We were rewarded with breathtaking views from Pillar Point, only a short walk from Tidal River.
You'd think we would be sick of driving by now... but the Otways await.
